Gram - negative folliculitis

The term Gram negative refers to the staining pattern of the organisms in the laboratory. Certain bacteria do not take up a stain known as Gram. Gram - negative folliculitis is another kind of deep folliculitis that sometimes develops in people receiving long-term antibiotic treatment for acne.

Pseudomonal folliculitis is another gram - negative folliculitis and is also known as hot tub (spa) folliculitis and wet suit folliculitis. Gram - negative folliculitis is only rarely seen, usually on the face of those who have been taking antibiotics on a long-term basis for acne.

Gram negative folliculitis is an inflammation of follicles caused by a bacterial infection that can result from long-term antibiotic treatment.
