What is Dermatophytosis?
Dermatophytos is an infection of keratinized tissue which is present in skin, hair and claws and have four equivalents that are Dermatophytosis, Ringworm, Tinea and Dermatophytes. In other words we called it the fungal infection of skin, hair or nails. It takes place due to different types of fungal infections. These infections may take place through different types of objects like brush, towels, clothing in our daily use and through animal also.
Causes of Dermatophytosis
- Different types of fungi like dermatophytes are causes of dermatophytosis.
- Another cause is different types of infections like hair, nail, skin etc.
- Dermatophytes are transmitted through infected hairs or nails and the objects such as clothing, towels, and brushes.
- Combination of hot weather and tight clothing which leads to the growth of fungs.
- Sometimes this type of fungs first infect to the animals and then they may be transmitted from animal to human.
What are the symptoms of Dermatophytosis?
- It affects the different parts of the body like hair, nails and skin also.
- Remissions and exacerbations are comman.
- Skin becomes dry and scaly or moist and crusty.
- Spreading of bumps on scalp occur and also there is loss of hair with scaling occur.
- There may also itching and pain while walking.
DermatophytosisTreatment
- Antifungals like nystatin, griseofulvin, ketoconazole, and creams containg clotrimazole can be use.
- Use of sunscreen lotion is must in summer.
- Use stain clothing, jewelry and baths using an antifungal shampoo.
- Cleanse the affected area gently and then apply the cream on that part do this twice a day.
- Topical therapies are useful for the treatmentwhich is the combination of clipping, shampooing, dipping and spot treatments.
- Avoid clipping in clinic because their may be possibility of infection of other patients.
- There is a new treatment available named as systemic treatments is high-dose oral lufenuron.
- Lime sulfur dip use twice in the week.
