What is Dermatitis Herpetiformis?

Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a disease in which outer skin get injured ie.extremely itchy rashes consisting of blisters and bumps occurs. It has different names like brocq-during disease, dermatitis multiformis, duhring disease, and gluten-sensitive enteropath. Generally it found in young adults mainly in peoples from northern Europe sides. It is related with the sensitivity of the intestine. These spots is of red coloured. This disease begins in 20 and older. Dermatitis herpetiformis affected to more parts of the body.

Causes of Dermatitis Herpetiformis

The main cause of DH is unknown but it is related to allergy to gluten.
Genetic factors, the immune system are also responsible for the dermatitis herpetiformis.
A flare may cause due to iodide and other halides.

What are the symptoms of Dermatitis Herpetiformis?

The main symptom of DH is itchy rashes on the skin these rashes consist of blisters and bumps.
Other symptoms are feeling burning, itching around knees, elbows, scalp, buttocks and back etc.
Sometimes there may red patches occurs on the skin with little water inside them.
There are some other symptoms of DH like back pain, backache, bad breath etc.
Quite often the blisters and patches occurs on the face and neck.

Dapsone is a drug which is effectively use for the treatment of DH this brings relief to thew patient within 1 or 3 days..
There are some other treatments are available such as colchicine, cyclosporine, azathioprine, and prednisone.
A strict gluten-free diet is also applicable to control the DH.
Some alternative treatments for Dapsone sulfapyridine, tetracycline.
Another thing is that a gluten-free diet may reduce the risk of gastrointestinal.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and iodies also useful to prevent from DH.
