What is Degos Disease?
Degos Disease (DD) first discovered by Kohlmeier in 1941 and Degos in 1942. It affecting children and adolescents mostly including young adults. It is like the disease of the blood vessels (a thrombotic vasculopathy). It creats the disturbance in the lining of the medium & veins and arteries which is resulting in the blockage of the vessel.Sometimes it affects on the parts like the gut, the central nervous system. It also affects on the number of body systems like skin, gastrointestinal, neurological, ocular etc. There are different names for Degos Disease:
- Malignant atrophic papulosis
- Köhlmeier - Degos disease
- Köhlmeier disease
- Degos - Köhlmeier disease
- Degos disease
- Degos syndrome
- Erythrokeratoderma en cocardes
- Thromboangiitis obliterans
Causes of Degos Disease (DD)
- It causes different types of the skin problems may include gastrointestinal, visual and nervous system problem.
- The exect cause of the degos disease is unknown.
- The other causes are abnormality inthe clotting system of blood, viral infection, an immune defect, an allergic vasculitis etc.
What are the symptoms of Degos Disease?
- There are so many symptoms of degos disease which are abdominal pain, diarrhea & cheast pain, a distinctive rash, weight loss etc.
- There may also problems of eye, including diplopia, dropping eyelids and also headaches.
- The main symptom of degos disease is the cause of distinctive rash.
- Some patients may also feel weakness, shortness of breath, and chest pains.
Degos DiseaseTreatment
- There is no spcific medical therapy for DD is known.
- If there is major problem occurs then use of proper surgical intervention is necessary.
- In degos disease some antiplatelet drugs like aspirin, dipyridamole use to reduce the pain related to skin.
- Automated External Deffibrillators (AED)is one of the device which used for interpreting a person's heart rhythm and automatically delivering a shock to prevent from sudden death.
