What is Amyloidosis Nodular ?
Amyloidosis Nodular is an uncommon skin disease which may affect people of all ages. It is the rarest form of primary localised cutaneous amyloidosis. This disease is due to the deposition of anti-lambda immunoglobin light chain amyloids by a clonal plasma cell population. It can occur at any point of time and can be dangerous. This diseases is not contagious. It leads to single or multiple firm nodules or plaques may appear on the trunk, limbs, extremities, face, and genitals.
Causes of Amyloidosis Nodular
Cause is unknown, but the production of amyloid from a localized infiltrate of plasma cells.
What are the symptoms of Amyloidosis Nodular ?
- It is normally symptomless and regular medical attention is necessary for the patients.
- Formation of firm nodules anywhere on the skin, including the face, scalp, extremities, trunk, and genitalia. Nodules may be a few millimeters to a few centimeters in size and may be pinkish brown to red in color.
- Effects may not lead to ulcers but can cause crack or splits particularly those on the soles of the feet.
Amyloidosis Nodular Treatment
- Topical and intralesional corticosteroids, cryotherapy, dermabrasion, shaving, curettage and electrodesiccation, carbon dioxide laser, and pulsed dye laser are used to find the symptoms. But topical and intralesional corticosteroids, cryotherapy are not helpful in the treatment.
- Excision and curettage and electrodesiccation, laser treatment may be recommended.
