Actinic Reticuloid

Actinic Reticuloid is a feature of chronic photo-dermatitis causing severe itching, discomfort and emotional disability.

Air-borne contact allergens like parthenium and drugs are the important causes. Clinical features are reddish or lichenified plaques, on the exposed parts of face and hand; later they become confluent with deep furrows in between and even disfigurement. From exposed parts, the condition may spread to other parts and may even become generalized. Mycosis fungoides and malignant transformation must always be excluded.

Treatment of Actinic Reticuloid

Treatment is unsatisfactory. It consists in protection from sun, use of sunscreens, steroid creams and oral steroids.
