Detecting Rosacea Causes
Rosacea may be misunderstood due to its complexity
Rosacea can be mistaken and not well understood due to its complexity. There are many causes of rosacea, and mites have been identified as one of them although some argue that they only contribute to this disease. Thyroid problems also contribute to rosacea along with hormonal disorders implicated in triggering this condition.
Histamine role in rosacea
There is also evidence that in the area affected by rosacea there is an increased amount of histamine secreted into the organism. When histamine is released into the bloodstream various reactions occur and tissues become damaged. Allergic reactions occur mainly through inhalation of substances such as dust, pollen, feathers, and tree pollen. Allergic reaction can also occur by ingesting hot spices and stimulants although it is less frequent.
Rosacea and inflammation are connected
Rosacea is considered to be an inflammatory disease affecting small blood vessels. It appears mainly on cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. Pimples are experienced along with itching and burning. There is an improper transmission of impulses in patients with rosacea from the carotid arteries to the hypothalamus as well as circular disorders in veins.
Vascular disorders and rosacea
Another underlying cause of rosacea are damaged vessel walls that along with other changes hinder the absorption of excess tissue fluid. Inflammation is also part of erythem and edema. All irritating stimuli cause a vicious cycle where irritants cause a high concentration of substance P and neuropeptides that cause the dilation and leakage of vessels. Post-inflammatory cytokine is stimulated while the threshold for triggering neuropeptide irritants becomes lower.
Inflammation in rosacea as a domino effect
As a high concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor that is erythema increases during the ultraviolet radiation patients with rosacea deteriorate. In this way further inflammation is triggered that also leads to the damage of various tissues.
Bacteria and mites implicated in rosacea still debated
Some claim that demodex mites are only present during rosacea but do not cause rosacea directly. Such mites seem to be also present in the organisms of other healthy people. Their number is only higher in those who have rosacea and because of that these patients need to be treated with metronidazole that is effective in such therapy.
Other bacteria that also contributes to rosacea
A bacteria associated with rosacea is helicobacter pylori is also not involved directly in causing rosacea but the skin disease improves after eradicating this bacteria.
External factors aggravating rosacea
Other causes that trigger rosacea symptoms involve spicy food and alcohol, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular diseases, endocrine disorders, irregular menstruation, infection of body lesions, extreme temperatures that cause vascular injury and later inflammation, stress, neurological disorders.
Further causes that are implicated in rosacea
This disease is also classified as vascular-motor facial skin neurosis. The exact causes are little known but vasomotor disfunction, hormonal changes or drugs such as those used for thyroid disease or digestive system disorders as well as infections such as caused by teeth infections can lead to rosacea.
Other causes of rosacea:
vasomotor disfunction
seborrhea
stress
hormonal disorders
topical steroids
genetic factors
hyperactivity
infectious diseases
lamblia
mites
bacteria such as helicobacter pylori
yeast
immune disorders
