These symptoms are often symmetrical while sometimes they appear only on one side. It may begin at the age of 30 peaking at the age of 40 or 60. It affects more often women although their most extreme forms affect men as part of rhinophyma. It progresses having different symptoms along with its stages.
Rosacea symptoms and progress
At first its symptoms involve erythema appearing as constant redness. The second stage is inflammatory and involves papules and pustules. In its third stage rhinophyma develops along with nodules and plaques. The rash is caused by heat, sunlight, thermal or emotional factors. After a longer period the skin redness becomes permanent and papules appear on the nose, chin and forehead. Also swelling may appear. Such swelling increases with time leading to fibrosis.
