American Board of Plastic Surgery

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the only board exclusive to the full spectrum of plastic surgery. Therefore, doctors who hold this certification are the only ones granted to perform any type of plastic surgery procedure or treatment.

Most patients are encouraged to consider a doctor who is board certified by the ABPS, because they can be assured that he or she has underwent extensive training, residency, and work experience.

Beware of all of the doctor's board certifications. You will want to make sure they are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and not just one that sounds similar or better.

The primary motive of the American Board of Plastic Surgery is to support secure, ethical and efficient plastic surgery to the patients by maintaining high principles for teaching, assessment, documentation and recertification of plastic surgeons as subspecialists and professionals.
