Homemade Toothpaste Recipes and Tips - Dental Care
Toothpastes and their Purpose
Toothpastes are designed to remove food and plaque from teeth and contain ingredients that protect it against tooth decay and gum disease.
Why dental hygiene is necessary
A film is formed on our teeth within minutes from brushing our teeth. It allows for plaque to be deposited that is made of exfoliating skin, food debris, and bacteria. We can feel with our tongue a white substance after two hours. This is the way tartar forms. Saliva protects from tartar by destroying the bacteria that accumulates while cheeks also brush against the teeth enamel.
When teeth starts exhibiting problems
The substance on our teeth starts to harden and turns into calculus. We can see it as a darker rim around the edges of the gums. Calculus hidden under the gums can cause infection. Calculus formation depends on genetic and individual characteristics and poorly made fillings. Calculus build up is enhanced by eating carbohydrates.
Commercial toothpastes and their effects
Most commercial toothpastes contain fluoride that is claimed to be also included in insecticides. It is also regarded as pollutant that is produced as the effect of aluminum manufacturing. Fluor is also claimed to decalcify bones, cause cancer while also being part of psychotropic drugs. Fluorine is a toxic gas and is not found in nature as a separate element. Other components are sweeteners and colour dyes while some ingredients are also unrecognizable.
Fluor, its properties and side effects
Fluor strengthens enamel but at the same time can be poisonous, causing various psychosomatic diseases. It can also cause various genetic diseases.
