Investigating warts and their causes
Warts are a common skin disease that is a benign tumor of the epidermis occurring mostly on hands and feet but can also be on any part of the body. Its colour is whitish and resemble a cauliflower.
Warts varieties and their effects on health
They are infectious and can spread on the body as well as reocur mostly after being in contact with someone who suffers from warts. Warts are caused by the virus human papplillomavirus HPV that can penetrate the skin easily through laceration or skin irritation. HPV has many varieties. Some strains have no effective cures. Some types of HPV virus can cause skin cancers or cancers of mucous membranes. Some HPV viruses are in the mucousa of those that suffer from genital cancer.
Genetic predispositions behind warts
Some people are predisposed to catch certain viruses genetically. It is not safe to cut skin and borrowing tools when doing pedicures. Warts can occur at any age, but often parents with little children get them as well as nurses and doctors. Also massage therapists or those with impaired immune systems especially cellular may get them.
Immune system and warts
This virus often attack those with a weaker immune system. They can disappear after a few months by themselves if immune system is stronger. It is not safe to treat the skin covered with warts with pumice or cutting it with knife, because the virus penetrates deeper inside the skin and can spread causing later even more numerous outbreaks of warts in other places.
Environments where warts spread
Plantar warts that can be found on feet can spread in a swimming pool while trying shoes on bare foot or in those spots where people walk barefoot.
Most common methods to catch warts
Those warts that occur mainly on hands are flat or plane warts. They are unsightly but not so dangerous. They can spread even through a handshake with an infected person. Warts around the nail are periungual.
Curing warts needs investigation
There are many cures for warts and dermatologists wander if all of them can be equally effective. Some homemade methods can be applied before undertaking any medical procedures.
Recipes used to cure warts
The following recipes can help to relieve warts.
- Vinegar: soaking a cotton ball in vinegar, and secure with a bandaid
- Cut fresh basil leaves and place a bandaid, change this dressing often until symptoms dissappear.
- Smash garlic and apply to the wart securing with a tape or bandaid. Change the dressing and keep doing it for about two weeks.
- Cover wart with a lemon skin can and attach bandaid on top.
Rub potato against the wart regularly until symptoms disappear.
- Oils such as clove oil, witch hazel, geranium or grapefruit oil
- Securing a duct tape on the wart can also provide a condition where warts can’t breath and if the tape is left for over a week without removing it for more than a few hours it can eliminate warts.
