Syringoma
Synonym: Hidradenomes eruptifis
Syringoma is a rare naevoid disorder presumed to develop from embryonic sweat glands or ducts. According to many authorities, adenoma sebaceum, syringoma, multiple benign cystic epithelioma and cylindroma are variants of the same condition.
Syringoma a tiny benign bump derived rom sweat glands which is mostly occurs in the eyes and other parts of the face. In this disease some lesions are occur which are firm, smooth, and approximately 1-3 mm in diameter. Syringoma is mostly common to the female than male and it may be a hereditary problem in some cases but not in all cases. Disseminated, Hidradenoma, Eruptive, Eruptive Hidradenoma, these are the synonyms of Syringoma.
Causes of Syringoma
- It may occur because of hereditary in some cases but not in all cases.
- In some cases Syringoma is related with Down syndrome.
- Eruptive syringomas occurs in African Americans and Asians than in other patients
- Some syringomas may be related with diabetes mellitus.
Symptoms of Syringoma
Typical syringoma lesions are seen mainly on the face, especially the eyelids, neck and upper trunk in young women as pin-head to split-pea-sized, soft flesh or yellowish colored, globoid, discrete or grouped, papulo-nodules, almost embedded in the skin.
Histopathology is diagnostic. It shows cystic sweat ducts lined by several layers of epithelial cells, comma-like tails to the cysts and also bands of epithelial cells.
Treatment of Syringoma
Treatment is surgical or electro-desiccation.
