Amniotic fluid - Moisturizers of Amniotic fluid index

Amniotic fluid is sold as a topical cosmetic application to increase cell growth. Derived from cow fetuses, the amniotic fluid is extracted from pregnant cows and then packaged in both moisturizer and compound form and sold over the counter.

Amniotic fluid is also an ingredient in certain face moisturizers, hair lotions, and breast-firming creams.

Theories that support its topical application say that amniotic fluid penetrates the skin and spurs cells on to grow faster; however, this theory has yet to be proven scientifically.

Therefore, most dermatologists and other skin-care practitioners do not acknowledge this fluid as an effective remedy. Despite its lack of medical support, over-the-counter skin-care products containing this fluid continue to sell.
